Student Expectations

Within the dojang there are no age, sex, or racial barriers – all begin as white belts.  Under the watchful eye of the master each progresses at his or her own rate according to individual effort and ability. While the TKD student can expect to develop strength, stamina, quickness, flexibility, coordination and balance, the road to mastery of the art require that the physical lessons be balanced with the equally important mental characteristics of patience, humility, self-control, perseverance, concentration and respect. Gradually, the lessons of the dojang begin to color other aspects of life.  The TKD student learns to seek more from his/herself in a broader arena. One becomes better able to meet and surpass the challenges of one’s life and profession. As students gain in skill, their hard work is rewarded my advancement in rank. Hard won, each new belt can be proudly worn as a symbol of honest accomplishment.
